1EMCL@KIT at the 3D-Expo: Science in 3D
Numerical simulations have become an important part of our modern life: Nearly everything has been optimized using computers, the public transport system has become faster and the weather forecast informs us about the expected sunshine the next day. At the Engineering Mathematics and Computing Lab (EMCL) in the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT) three-dimensional simulations are undertaken in the areas of medicine, meteorology and energy. The applications where mathematics is used to solve problems of high impact for society reach from the simulation of human respiration, over tropical cyclones up to energy-efficient computers, delivering fascinating insights and new solutions. For solving such problems, the scientists are working on the world fastest computers that are delivering an unthinkable huge amount of numbers and 3D-data: Striving for comprehensible and fascinating representations of this flood of information, technology and society are meeting in dialog.
VISENSO
The VISENSO GmbH is the leading provider for interactive and immersive Virtual Reality in 3D-Stereo and real-time as well as cooperative working. Since its founding in 2004 by Dr. Andreas Wierse and Martin Zimmermann the firm has been developing tools for the creation of interactive realms of experience for example aerodynamic simulations, architecture visualisations, or crash simulations. The heart of all this is the visualising and VR software COVISE that can generate clear and ostensive 3D models of complex tridimensional data structures within seconds with possibilities of interaction for the viewer.
VISENSO's target groups are, amongst others, the automobile industry, the air and space travel industry, the machine, device, and facility building industry, the energy, oil, and gas industry, research and lore, architecture and construction as well as marketing, art, and events. The application possibilites go from design, calculation, construction, and prototype building all the way over to production planning, tool creation, marketing, and distribution.
MediLive
MediLive realises successfully 3D productions since 1994. Our experience ranges from video- and live recording to mixing and presentation techniques. With our 3D department Invistra we develop stereoscopic hard- and software, like the multiplexer A100 and an applet software which makes high quality 3D online viewing possible.
FES Film Entertainment Systems will be presenting MISTIKA, a multi-tool system for the production and post-production of 2D and 3D stereo material. More than 60 MISTIKA systems are being used for 2D and 3D post-production worldwide in America, Europe, Asia and Oceania. Amongst others, MISTIKA is being used for the post-production of THE HOBBIT in 3D stereo by Peter Jackson's firm PARK ROAD in New Zealand, Wim Wender's 3D stereo film PINA was processed with MISTIKA by the German post-production office DAS WERK BERLIN.
