Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design

Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design

The Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) was inaugurated on April 15th 1992. Together with the ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe it was established by Prof. Dr. Heinrich Klotz from 1989 to 1992.

The unique fusion of teaching, research, and exhibition institutions corresponds to the new artistic and educational challenge of relating the traditional arts to media technology and electronic production processes.

The HfG's program is not fixed on any specific tendencies and directions in the practice and theory of art. Pluralistic candour is the basis for learning and teaching at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. (oder die offizielle Übersetzung aus dem internet klauen: A pluralistic platform forms the basis for learning and exchange at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design.)

In line with a widespread university ranking, the excellent educational concept and  extraordinary studying options were validated. These have allowed the HfG to establish itself as a high-performance teaching and research facility within only twenty years.

The university's modern organisation structure as well as its numerous co-operations with international education institutions were praised, especially the co-op with the neighbouring ZKM, though.
